College is about developing skills that will help you succeed in your career and in life. Not only do you have the opportunity to learn more about your passions and interests, but you can broaden your mind and perspectives through your relationships with peers and colleagues. Developing strong leadership and interpersonal skills is integral to your success both in college and in the future. There are several leadership and campus opportunities beyond the Department of Campus Activities.  Below are just a few to help you get started.  If you need help navigating any of these opportunities, stop by Campus Activities in Plemmons Student Union and we will gladly help.

Clubs   Orgs Logo

Appalachian State has roughly 400 recognized student organizations!  Part of the mission of the university is to help students develop skills to become good citizens and strong contributors to the communities they join. Clubs and organizations provide students with opportunities to deepen their passions and interests.  Check out the Campus Activities website to learn more about ways to get involved!

APPS Logo The Appalachian Popular Programming Society (APPS) is the campus programming board that exists to plan and provide diverse educational, enriching, and entertaining events for the community and student body of Appalachian State.
FSL Logo The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life at Appalachian State University works with ~36 recognized fraternities and sororities. They provide programs and services, active oversight of chapter events, maintain communication with faculty, alumni advisors, and parents, organize leadership retreats and workshops, monitor the academic performance of fraternity and sorority members, and recognize the positive achievements of the organizations.
CEL logo

The Office of Community-Engaged Leadership (CEL) engages Appalachian State University students in academic, experiential, and community-oriented programs that enhance their capacity to serve and lead in socially-responsible ways for the benefit of their local and global communities. Find us in Suite 138 of the Plemmons Student Union.

UREC logo University Recreation (UREC) is the playground for AppState students developing strength in body, mind, and character. Programs include Club Sports, Intramural Sports, Outdoor Programs, Fitness, and Aquatics. Stop by the Student Recreation Center (SRC) and explore the endless opportunities.
University Housing 5k

University Housing: Students gain a sense of fulfillment from their community when they engage in student leadership and and have opportunities to connect with peers in their neighborhood and across campus. Holding a formal leadership role, such as a Neighborhood President or an RHA Executive Board member, allows students to develop their leadership skills and gain valuable self-awareness. Aditionally, student leaders gain professional experience in various areas through their involvement with University Housing and the Residence Hall Association.

Wellness and Prevention Services serves all App State students through the promotion of healthy behaviors, risk behavior modification services and campuswide health policies, which facilitate student success and holistic well-being. We offer services promoting health awareness and active lifestyles while taking an all-inclusive approach to wellness.
